At the Quarter Pole – Committee Updates
By: Keith Stewart
I’m sure we would all agree it has been a very quick start to the 2012 golf season here in the New Jersey section. Great weather and a resurging golf economy have brought new life to our world. With approximately a quarter of the season already behind us I thought it would be a great time to give our members an update on committee activities.

Education Committee
On Monday, June 18th from 9:00-11:00am Jason Carbone will be hosting an instructional seminar at Baltusrol Golf Club about "Teaching Today's Fundamentals with and without Technology". There are certain things that must happen to produce consistent, quality ball striking and putting. The two hour seminar will cover those fundamentals while showing everyone in attendance how to analyze them using Trackman and Sam Putt Lab. Jason will also share his ideas on easy and inexpensive ways to teach these fundamentals without using launch monitors.

Public Relations Committee
The purpose of the POST is to communicate with our members and the general metropolitan golfing public. The positive support we have received already has been very rewarding. But we need your help. If you have a tale to tell please let us know. Please contact any member of the Public Relations Committee and we will be happy to pass along your story.

Employment Committee
The Committee continues to ask everyone to fill out the compensation survey. The information gathered through this survey will help you someday. So many professionals every year benefit from this information. Please take a moment and do it today.

Golf 2.0 Committee
On Tuesday, April 10th the Committee hosted a Town Hall meeting. With over 30 professionals in attendance the gathering was a tremendous success. The forum was a tremendous opportunity for the sharing of ideas amongst our professionals. Currently the 2.0 Committee is compiling the discussion notes from the meeting for section distribution. Thank you to everyone who attended and participated.

Special Awards Committee
Special Award Nomination Forms are due in a little over a month. The Committee is hard at work trying to streamline the process each nominee will use to present their candidacy for each award. In our next edition of the POST we will discuss in detail more about the Special Award process, stay tuned.

Government Relations Committee
The committee is working on an exciting project to promote the NJ Golf Foundation. Currently, the committee is meeting with state officials regarding the creation of a NJ Golf Foundation license plate. This is an exciting breakthrough in building a connection with state officials and overall awareness. Section professionals who can assist with their network of members please contact the Committee.
